Why Linde’s Hydrostatic Drive Stands Out
Busy schedules, tight spaces and heavy loads need forklifts that respond quickly, smoothly and with precision. Standard drive systems often waste energy, wear out faster and use more fuel because they can’t balance power and control.
To solve these problems, Linde Material Handling created the hydrostatic drive – one of its most innovative solutions.
Did you know? A hydrostatic drive changes the engine’s turning power into hydraulic energy, then turns it back into rotation to move the wheels.
How the Linde Hydrostatic Drive Works
It runs on a closed hydraulic system powered by the engine. An engine-driven pump sends oil pressure to two hydraulic motors on the axle. The operator controls oil flow and direction with Linde’s dual-pedal setup – one pedal for forward, one for reverse.
It’s simple and effective: one pedal moves forward, the other backward. Switching pedals changes direction instantly – no clutch, gearbox or brake needed. The closed system slows the truck smoothly for easy, natural control.
The hydrostatic drive offers smooth acceleration and automatic braking, giving operators full control over movement and stopping distance. A part called the swash plate converts pedal pressure into wheel movement for precise control. Every small pedal movement instantly affects the truck, making handling easy even in tight spaces.
Smart Power Balance
While working, the system automatically splits power between driving and lifting. When lifting, oil is sent to the mast without slowing down the drive motors. It automatically provides the right amount of power for each task, keeping the engine in its most efficient range.
This means less fuel use, smoother lifting and cleaner operation.
Designed for Efficiency
The hydrostatic drive removes many parts that usually wear out – like the clutch, gearbox and brakes. Fewer parts mean less wear, less maintenance and lower running costs.
Many components are maintenance-free, helping businesses run longer with fewer service costs and better returns. When paired with strong industrial engines, it delivers steady performance under heavy workloads.
Proven Technology, Refined Over Time
Together, the hydrostatic drive, dual-pedal control and Linde Load Control let operators lift and drive with accuracy and speed. Every movement feels natural, helping operators work faster and stay productive across every shift.
After decades of improvement, the Linde hydrostatic system remains the standard for comfort, reliability and efficiency. By blending smart engineering with operator-friendly design, it delivers smooth, powerful and efficient performance trusted by industries worldwide.
